Water fountains provide beauty and serenity to any office or home space. The soothing sounds that come from the water flow gives relaxation and stress relief to the people near the fountain. But if the water fountain starts to emit noise, it is defeats the purpose of having a fountain. Thus regular check up and maintenance is very important in having a fountain. And one of the most important things to monitor is the pump. The pump in your water fountain should not be too loud and it should be running quietly. In the event that the pump in your water fountain makes noise, it means that there is a problem with the way it was set up. Make sure to follow the directions properly to ensure that your fountain runs as it should be. If it does not, here are troubleshooting guidelines you can use.
Most of the time when the water fountain pump is making noise it is because either the pump is not fully submerged or the pump is vibrating against the side of the water basin. When any of the two happens, first, check if the pump is fully covered by water. If it isn’t, simply add water until the pump is fully submerged and the noise stops. Consider adding extra water to prevent the pump from emitting noise again when water evaporates. It usually takes a few minutes for the noise to stop when you have added the water because the pump is usually full of air bubbles which is where the noise originated in the first place. The pump will run quietly as soon as the air bubbles clear out.
Another reason for wall fountain water pumps to make noise is when it is vibrating against the side or bottom of the water basin. When this happens, also try to add water first. When the pump is fully covered with water and still the noise doesn’t stop, try removing the pump to see if the vibration stops. Just reinstall the pump properly when the noise or vibration stops. However, if it doesn’t, you may take an untreated sponge, meaning no soap or chemicals to pad the side or bottom of the pump. An adhesive may be used to attach the sponge to the basin so there will be no change in the water flow. This can prevent the noise from recurring.
If the following solutions do not work, you may have a faulty pump. You must contact your fountain dealer when these remedies do not work. If your pump is defective, they should be able to send you a replacement pump. However, the above mentioned remedies usually solve the problems with your water fountain pump.
